Your job is to describe this site to someone who has never seen it before. This means that you describe what you see and read and do in detail. You will also be researching the company, organization or website by finding out information NOT contained on the platform, but from other outside sources (such as news articles, etc). Paragraph 1: Introducing Your Health IT • What is the name of it? o What type of Health IT is it? Is it a website? A database? A mobile app? • What does it do? What is it used for? How is it used? o Remember your health IT may have multiple uses o How is it supposed to help the user with health? Does it collect information? Provide information? Paragraph 2: Authorship • Who is behind this website? Tell us about the individuals or organization(s). o What is the history of the site, and the people behind it? • Notice that the word, “author” is similar to “authority.” What is the authority of the site? o Namely, what are their credentials? Who writes/creates the content? o Is it “medically reviewed”? Paragraph 3: Purpose • What is the purpose or goal(s) of the website? • What is it that they are trying to get the visitor to do (if anything)? • How does the website attain (or try to attain) these goals? Paragraph 4: Audience • Who is it for? How do you know who the intended audience is? • Are you part of the intended audience? • How does the content presented impact or influence you? Paragraph 5: Currency • How current is the site? Are there dates on pages? • Is the information credible? How do you know? • Are there dead links? • Currency also means “the fact or quality of being generally accepted or in use.” o Are the information or ideas generally accepted or used by others? o Is there any controversy in the ideas presented? Paragraph 6: Summary of a document Finally, I want you to look in the "Interesting Readings" folder below and choose one of the items to tell us about. Please summarize in at least a paragraph what the document is about, what it is used for, who wrote it, and who the audience is.
